Thomas Esteban Lawrence explores how clothing made from natural materials can better accommodate the human body. He develops garments that improve freedom of movement without sacrificing the valuable qualities of natural fibres.

Working directly on the body in motion, he studies how its shape changes across different postures and translates these changes into pattern geometry. This allows his garments to provide mobility without relying on material elasticity or synthetic stretch blends.

Recently shortlisted for the Graduate Fashion Foundation Pattern Cutting Award, his work has been recognised for its innovative approach to pattern engineering and movement-led garment development.

His long-term ambition is to minimise the interference between people and the products they use, creating comfortable, intuitive and long-lasting designs that improve everyday experience.
